LRS-1 — Long Range Shooting (2 Days)

Our two-day Long Range Shooting course gets you well on your way to your long range goals, regardless of prior training or experience. We cover external ballistics and how environmental conditions — including wind — affect your projectile all the way to the target. You'll leave with confidence in yourself and your kit, and the ability to hit targets at distance.

What's covered

  • External ballistics

  • Rifle scopes and reticle patterns, including yours

  • Precision shooting fundamentals

  • Rifle set-up, grouping and zeroing

  • Ballistic software and calibration

  • Wind reading and calls

  • Practical shooting to cement all of the above

Requirements To get the most out of LRS-1, you'll need a magazine-fed rifle capable of 1 MOA (0.3 MIL) accuracy or better, paired with a quality variable-magnification scope (minimum 12x) with exposed or capped turrets and return-to-zero capability. We teach and recommend Applied Ballistics software, downloadable free to your phone — loan Kestrel units are available on the day if you don't have your own. Not sure your current setup qualifies? Get in touch before you book and we'll talk it through.

Fees $880 pp/pd incl. GST (group course) · $1485 incl. GST (one-on-one)

Advanced LRS (3 Days)

Our Advanced Long Range Shooting course builds on the techniques and ballistic formulas taught in LRS-1. Completion of LRS-1 is a prerequisite — we assume that knowledge going in, so we can push further into genuinely advanced territory.

What's covered

  • Ballistic profile trueing and wind formulas — theory and practical

  • Powder burn rate variation

  • Elevation and windage data formulas

  • Moving target engagement (200m–400m)

  • Angled (theory) and tripod shooting

  • Multi-range, multi-position serials with spotter drills

  • Practical shooting out to 926m

Requirements Advanced LRS builds directly on LRS-1, so completion of an LRS-1 course with us is required before booking. On the equipment side, you'll need everything from LRS-1's baseline, plus a barrel capable of handling longer strings of fire — no sporter or mountain-hunter weight profiles — a tripod with a compatible rifle interface, and the free Kestrel LiNK Ballistics app installed on your phone.

Fees $880 pp/pd incl. GST (group) · $1485 pp/pd incl. GST (one-on-one) · Restricted to 8 shooters per course

Tailored Training

We develop and tailor training to your needs, experience and timeframe — for individuals, groups, newly licenced shooters, hunters, competitors and professionals.

New to shooting? We can build a foundation course covering safe handling, rifle and scope set-up, shooting fundamentals, and zeroing — a friendly, no-stress introduction to the sport.

Already shooting, want something specific? Tailored packages can focus on whatever you need: a particular discipline, a piece of equipment, or preparation for a specific goal.

Requirements Because Tailored Training is built around your specific goals, equipment requirements vary from course to course — we'll confirm exactly what you'll need once we've discussed your experience level, the skills you want to build, and your own gear. If you're completely new to the sport, we can also advise on rifle and optic choices before you invest in anything.

Fees From $880 pp/pd incl. GST (groups of two or more) · $1485 pp/pd incl. GST (one-on-one)
